Compare JL amplifier families: JD, RD, HD, XDM & VXi

Start with channels, your speakers’ final impedance, available mounting space and whether you need built-in DSP. These families serve different system plans; a bigger model number or price does not automatically make an amplifier the right match.

RD · compare the power configuration

RD also offers conventional amplification with clipping indicators. Compare each model’s output at your final speaker load, crossover controls and physical dimensions against the JD alternative. The RD1500/1 adds a higher-power mono option to this selection.

HD · regulated power delivery

HD adds JL’s Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply technology to maintain consistent output over its specified voltage and load range. That is a meaningful design difference when matching system power; check the exact model’s operating limits and channel layout.

XDM · car or marine system planning

XDM spans mono and multichannel configurations for car and marine applications. Choose the exact channel count for the build and confirm voltage, mounting location and environmental requirements. A marine application does not make an amplifier submersible.

VXi · amplification with built-in DSP

VXi combines amplifier power with configurable DSP for routing, equalization, crossovers and time alignment. Plan the input signals, amplified channels and tuning workflow before choosing a model. Conventional JD, RD, HD and XDM models serve a different role.
